On Feburary 4th I joined Marketing Management class (which is our first class) thaught by Pak Kirbrandoko (KIR) . He was a very interactive and funny lecturer. I was late so I missed some of the explanation. What I remember is that he explained us the basic understanding of marketing management. Marketing is an art. It’s about the way to convince someone to buy what you sell.
Well there are several things which being marketed such as goods, service, experience, event, person and many others. The way we market every item is different. In marketing something you need to know the target what they like and dislike.
Pak Kir gave us some illustration about a simple but successful marketing. It’s done by satay seller in Bogor. The satay seller started his career as a satay peddler. But in selling his satay he always do the best to the customer. The taste of the satay is always constant, and he never let his buyer down, event only for buyer who buy for a very little amount of satay. For example a buyer want to buy three satay and there is no other buyer. It means he need to grilled with his hand three satay, which it will cost same effort when you grilled for ten satay., but still with his smile on he served the buyer.
Nowadays the peddler become an owner for satay restaurant which had the omset for millions in a month. See.. it was a very simple example of successful marketing way. With his sincerity the peddler can attract many buyer and become successful.
